Also in this year, Daniel's orchestral work "Strontium" was performed by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra after winning the A.B.C./S.S.O. Composition Competition.
He again won this competition in 1989 and his work "De Paradis a l'Enfer" was performed by the S.S.O. in 1990.
Through winning both a Big Brother Scholarship and the "Operation Music Award", Daniel traveled to London to study. During this time he premiered two of his works before Princess Margaret at Commonwealth House.
Numerous ensembles and orchestras have performed Daniel's works. Events such as the Opening of the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre (1990), and the Conservatorium High School's 75th Anniversary concert (1993) have featured his compositions.
His scoring for film and television began in 1990 with the educational video series "Hand's up for a Story." Since that time Daniel has scored for many documentaries and dramas.
Through much of the mid 1990's Daniel arranged and sequenced all the music for both the "International Schools of Music" and "Australian Music School's" courses, whilst writing his own piano teaching series entitled "Outrageous Technique."
Daniel's musicals "Questions", "Tyler", "Snydley's Christmas Surprise", "Angels we have heard", "The Easter Experience" and others have been performed to many thousands of people over the last decade. Daniel generally writes new works each year for Christmas and Easter which are performed by churches around Australia.
Daniel is well known for his contemporary worship songs which are sung in churches around the world. These have been recorded on numerous "Live Worship Recordings" listed in the Credits.
The Dreamusic Accelerate series vol.1 is a CD containing motivational songs and quotes. Daniel recorded and released this in 2001 because of his belief in the power of music and potential of people.
Daniel is currently a lecturer at Southern Cross College and a guest lecturer at Hillsong College. His performances are shown multiple times weekly on the LifeSource TV show.
Daniel is particularly focused on composing for film/television and concert works whilst also being in demand as a performer in Musical Theatre and in Contemporary Christian music across Australia and around the world.

Daniel Thornton was born in Sydney, Australia.
His last four years of secondary education at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music High School were followed by two years of his Bachelor of Music degree at the Conservatorium of Music Sydney. During this time he also attained the LMusA (A.M.E.B.) and Trinity College of Music London Performer's Certificate (Piano).
During this time Daniel was awarded with many opportunities and prizes for his compositions.
In 1987, Daniel's "Childish Syndromes" a work for wind quintet was performed by Musica Viva's Windbags and later published and recorded by EMI as part of the "Young Imagination Competition."
